In this episode, Debbie sits down for a Zoom conversation with two living legends in the game of Women’s Basketball. NCAA referees, Patty Broderick and Lisa Mattingly. 

Patty Broderick is the Coordinator for the Women’s Basketball Officiating Consortium. Consortium conference members include: Big Ten, Big 12, Summit, Conference USA, Horizon League, Mid-American, Missouri Valley Conference, and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (Division II).  Patty has been an NCAA Final Four official seven times. She also officiated the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, as well as six WNBA championships. Patty served as the Director of Officials for the WNBA from 2002-2004. Patty was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2008.

Lisa Mattingly leads an officiating consortium of conferences that includes the SEC, Sun Belt, A-Sun, SWAC and Southland in addition to the OVC. She has served as a women’s basketball official in the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Big East, Conference USA, OVC, Missouri Valley, MAC, SEC and Horizon League. She officiated her first NCAA Tournament in 1996 and since that time has worked 21 NCAA Regional Tournaments and 18 Final Fours including 10 championship games. In addition to her on-court achievements, Mattingly served as liaison for basketball officials to the NCAA Rules Committee from 2003-05. Mattingly also made her mark at the pro level, having been selected to officiate in the inaugural season of the WNBA in 1997. She officiated each of the WNBA Championship series from 2000-07.
